You will probably have to rely on TCP/IP apps to get things going.
See if you can find a network scanner program for your pc that scans ip adresses, then try to connect to the several ip adresses shown with your internet browser to see if the devices have a Webinterface. Most devices nowadays do have that, from there on you will have a menu with settings and possibillities.

I think that is what I need, I have several discs on a docking station which is connected tto a media player which in turn is connected to my tv. I want to access an move the files about from my pc but don't know how to do it. I have a cable running from my media player round to my router but can't seem to find the drives listed anywhere?
